We read a book about reptiles and learned that all reptiles have a backbone and are cold blooded. Most have scales. They like to live in warm places and they can live on land or in the water. They lay eggs. The kids got to learn about unique reptiles like the komodo dragon and the chameleon.
We learned about measurement this week. We measured with our own feet and then we learned about the standard foot as a unit of measurement. We talked about the pros and cons of both types of feet and why we would use one or the other.
We watched a video and learned about fish. We researched some very interesting kinds of fish like the Blob fish, the Angler fish , and the Puffer fish. These will all be added to our “ocean” habitat when they are finished.
We also read the Farm Alphabet Book and made predictions on what different letters would be for. We learned about some plants and animals, equipment and tools that are used on a farm.
The kids have been working very hard in art to create our ocean “habitat” on our “island.” We now have jellyfish, coral and seaweed and different kinds of fish. Now we just need to put it together and we will have our “ocean!”
We finished all of the vowel combinations in Jolly Phonics! Now we only have digraphs, “bossy r” and some blends left!
