This week was exciting as we prepared for Halloween! Here are some of the highlights from this week:
· We had a wonderful Halloween carnival full of fun and games. The kids got to go
trick-or-treating in the upper school, they got to decorate pumpkins and we even
finished the afternoon off with a Halloween movie!
· We spent Tuesday with our reading buddies reading Halloween books and working on our game boards.
· We made bats, ghosts, and haunted house puzzles to take home and to decorate our room and our door for Halloween.
· We watched “The Berenstain Bears Trick-or-Treat” and learned a valuable lesson
about not judging others by how they look.
· We introduced a balance to measure weight and the kids predicted which object would be heavier.
· The kids performed a cute song with Mrs. Victoria about trick-or-treating that I will add to our website this weekend.
· As we wrapped up the month of October, the kids analyzed the weather data we’ve been collecting over the past month using tally marks and a bar graph. October, apart from a few cloudy and foggy days, has been a very sunny month!
· We introduced two new vowel combinations this week- “oa” and “ie.” We remember that when two vowels go walking… the first one does the talking.
· We learned the new sight words “will,” “he,” and “she.”
· We were excited to honor 7 out of our 9 students with perfect attendance awards for the month of October! Keep coming to school!
· We read the book “What will you be for Halloween?” to practice our sight words for this week.
· We made ties to wear in honor of “ie."
