This week was full of excitement as we returned from the break. We went on our first field trip and celebrated both the 100th day of school and Valentine’s Day all in the same week! Here were some of the highlights:
Polar Ocean World was so much fun! It was a full day of marine life and cool shows. The kids really enjoyed seeing the animals up close and personal.
On Thursday we celebrated our 100th day of school! The kids each brought in 100 different things, they drew pictures of themselves at 100 years old, they wrote about what they would do with 100 dollars and they made a collage of 100 fingers. We practiced counting by 5’s, 10’s and 1’s to 100!
The kids began to learn about the ocean and the plants and animals that live in the ocean. We have begun to create our ocean habitat.
We practiced addition and subtraction this week using Valentines Day story problems and hearts as counters.
The kids made Valentines for each other and for anyone special to them (parents, teachers, etc).
We read the book “These Hands” to practice using the sight word “these” and then wrote about what our hands can do. The kids wrote that their hands can eat, draw, feel, play, build, and write.
We learned the letter combination “th” this week and the two sounds that it can make. Our sight words were “three,” “these,” and “there.”
